Welcome to Harris Bilingual SLD page! Every staff member supports students who are developing their Spanish language skills. During Spanish weeks, instruction is sheltered so that all students are able to learn the lesson content in Spanish. Grades K-3 have a special time set aside for SLD students to focus specifically on Spanish language acquisition with their grade level Spanish literacy teacher. Our grade level scope and sequence is based on the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency guidelines. If you would like to support your student in their Spanish language development, you might consider practicing these strategies in their first language. We are so proud of our students who work hard to learn a new language.
